The Gordon Longhorns are no longer just champions. They are a six-man dynasty.
Gordon capped an unforgettable season Wednesday at AT&T Stadium with a 69–22 victory over Rankin in the Class 1A Division I state championship, a game that ended early under the 45-point mercy rule. It was Gordon’s third straight state title, fifth overall, and the 44th consecutive win for a program that continues to redefine excellence in six-man football.
What makes this championship even more remarkable is the journey. Gordon played nearly the entire 2025 season on the road after a May tornado destroyed its home field. All that did was tighten the bond. When the Longhorns reached Arlington, they played like a team that had already weathered every storm.
The offense wasted no time putting on a show. On Gordon’s first snap, quarterback Noah Kostiha found Asher Salinas for a 25-yard touchdown. From there, the floodgates opened. Ry Reed scored twice in the first quarter, Brayden Walters intercepted a pass and later caught a touchdown, and Gordon raced to a 32–8 lead before the opening quarter even ended.
The night belonged to Stryker Reed. The Air Force commit rushed for 160 yards and four touchdowns on just seven carries, earning Offensive MVP honors. Reed broke free for long scoring runs all game, including the 44-yard touchdown that officially ended the contest midway through the third quarter.
Rankin, making its first-ever appearance in a state championship game, showed grit and fight. Matthew Ramos powered in two touchdowns and never stopped competing, even as Gordon’s tempo and depth took control. The Red Devils finished a historic season at 12–3 and proved they belong among the state’s elite.
Defensively, Gordon delivered again. Brayden Walters posted 11 tackles, a tackle for loss, and an interception to earn Defensive MVP honors, anchoring a unit that consistently flipped the field.
When the clock finally stopped, it marked more than a win. It marked resilience, dominance, and another chapter in a story Gordon keeps writing — one title at a time.
