The Granger Lions have found their replacement for former head coach Jason Meng. Per Granger ISD and Matt Stepp, Walter Brock will take over as the next head coach and athletic director. He takes over for Jason Meng, who left to take the head coaching job at Burkburnett in Class 4A back in January. Meng was 14-9 in two seasons at Granger.
Brock served as the offensive coordinator for the Anson Tigers, who made it all the way to the regional finals in the Class 2A Division I playoffs. Per Granger ISD, Brock was also an assistant coach at Riesel High for seven seasons.
After making the playoffs in both years under Meng, Brock will try and keep that positive momentum going with his first head coaching opportunity. The Lions finished 9-3 in 2016 and advanced to the area round of the Class 2A Division II playoffs before falling to Bruni.
