Groveton Indian Lane Johnson Celebrates Second Super Bowl Victory

Austin Roof Inspection

Lane Johnson, from Groveton, Texas, won his second Super Bowl ring with the Philadelphia Eagles.

In Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs with a 40-22 victory. The Eagles’ defense was formidable, especially their defensive line, sacking Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes six times and forcing two interceptions. Offensively, quarterback Jalen Hurts delivered an MVP-worthy performance, completing 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns while also leading the team in rushing with 72 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Johnson’s football journey began at Groveton High School, where he played as a quarterback. He then attended Kilgore College, playing quarterback and tight end, before transferring to the University of Oklahoma, where he transitioned to offensive tackle. Selected fourth overall by the Eagles in the 2013 NFL Draft, Johnson has since become a cornerstone of their offensive line, earning multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections. He is well on his way to a Hall of Fame career.

This Super Bowl victory also marked the first championship for several former Texas high school football standouts: Jalen Hurts from Channelview, who earned MVP honors; Milton Williams from Crowley; Ainias Smith from Dulles; Braden Mann from Cy-Fair; and Tristin McCollum from Ball High School. Their contributions highlight the significant impact of Texas high school football talent on the national stage.
