Denton Guyer Stays Unbeaten

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

On Friday night, the Guyer Wildcats traveled to play Allen in a heated defensive game that came down to the final drive.

Allen Eagles

Quarterback Brady Bricker struggled to get things going for his team in the first half, but completed 16 of 32 passes on the night for 180 yards and rushed for 48 yards. Bricker spread the ball around as he connected with Gavin Akins 3 times for 57 yards, Caleb Smith 3 times for 45 yards, Donnell Gee, who racked up 7 catches for 36 yards, and Messiah Washington, whose single reception netted him 45 yards.

With no scoring coming through the air, the Eagles had to rely on ground game as Micah Ellis rushed for 93 yards on 19 touches reaching the endzone once, and Amir McDowell, who rushed for 34 yards on 13 carries and scored once himself. The Eagle defense kept their team in the game all night as Zina Umeozulu and Nathan “Tank” Marsh held the Wildcats to –5 yards rushing on the night.

Guyer Wildcats

Wildcats quarterback Isaac Harney led the Wildcats through the air completing 15 of 28 passes for 231 yards throwing for 2 touchdowns. Harney’s main man on the night was Josiah Martin, who racked up 168 yards on 8 receptions finding the endzone twice.  Kegan Stelmazewski got in on the action as well with 3 receptions for 34 yards.

The Wildcats struggled with the run game as Ahmed Yussuf rushed for 11 yards on 8 carries, and Corbin Glasco was held to 10 yards on 6 carries. The Guyer defense kept their boys in the game as it came down to the final drive.  On a 3rd down play from inside the Guyer 20-yard line, Bricker was intercepted by the Wildcats when he tried to get the ball to Quintin Hammonds.  The interception secured a Guyer victory and allowed the Wildcats to run the clock out.

Guyer holds on against Allen 24-18.

Next Week Allen will continue district play as they travel north to play Prosper, and Guyer will return home to defend their turf against the McKinney Lions.
