Plano East head coach Joey McCullough has high hopes for the upcoming football season, thanks in large part to what could be one of the more talented senior classes in Panther history.
In fact, two of those seniors have already received and accepted college scholarships.
Offensive lineman Casey Verhulst and quarterback Miklo Smalls have committed to play Division I football in 2017, after what they hope will be a long playoff run in their final year on the high school gridiron.
Smalls, a three-star recruit, verbally committed to Rice University. Labeled a dual-threat athlete by most major scouting departments, Smalls said he will play quarterback for the Owls. At 6-2, Smalls completed 150-of-247 passes for 2,080 yards and 23 passing touchdowns as a junior. He also rushed for 817 yards and 10 touchdowns.
