High-Scoring Showdown: Ridge Point vs Tompkins

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

Playoff Texas High School Football is here! A lot of great games to watch this weekend the one I will be covering is The Tompkins Falcons vs. the Ridge Point Panthers. This was a high-powered offensive showdown between two great quarterbacks, Falcon’s #10 Wyatt Young and Panthers’ #12 Austin Carlisle.

Falcons received the 1st kickoff. The Falcons had a great opening drive with running back #21 Caleb Blocker steadily moving the ball upfield, and Wyatt found an opening for the 1st touchdown of the game. Panthers received the ball and with no time to spare running back #20 Wesley Drummer punched in for a touchdown. Like clockwork, the Falcons regained possession and drove down the field. Wyatt ran it again and had a nice spin move to land in the endzone for his 2nd touchdown. Panthers have possession again as they were nearing the end zone the 1st quarter ended with a score of 14-7.

Right back where we left off in the 2nd quarter about a minute in Panthers’ quarterback Austin finds an opening and rushes it in for a 12-yard touchdown. I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but quarterback Wyatt Young scored his 3rd touchdown in a row halfway through the 2nd quarter the Panthers’ defense just can’t stop him. The Panthers drive down the field draining the clock and Wesley rushes in for another touchdown, tying the game with about a minute left in the half. The Falcon’s offense was not settling for a tie they wanted to go into halftime with the lead. With runs from Wyatt and Caleb The Falcons landed in range for a field goal to take the lead with a score of 24-21 going into halftime.

The Panthers received the kickoff starting the 2nd half. The Panthers were reignited after halftime in their 1st play quarterback Austin connected with wide receiver #8 Ashton Bethel-Roman for a touchdown pass. The Falcons were back on offense, however, this time, The Panthers’ defense was ready for them, especially dual threat #3 Mason Dossett. Mason is a fast wide receiver and strong free safety throughout this whole game, he was the main contributor on defense making all the stops. Once Mason realized The Falcons were running the ball heavily, he moved up to play more aggressively, forcing The Falcons to punt the ball the 1st time this game. Wesley Drummer’s twin brother, running back #21 Quincy Drummer, rushed in for a touchdown, widening their lead with about a minute left in the 3rd quarter. The Panthers got the ball back right before the end of the quarter. Wesley went out for a pass and Austin connected with him for a touchdown pass to end the quarter with a score of 43-24.

In the 4th and last quarter, Falcons has possession. Wyatt found #5 Jhase McMillan open once the pass was caught Jhase took off with explosive speed to the endzone starting the 4th quarter with a touchdown. The Panthers answered back within a minute. Austin connected with Ashton again when he caught the pass. Ashton faked out two Falcons’ defenders getting passed them, and scored his 2nd touchdown. Falcons fought hard driving down the field. Wyatt connects with wide receiver #1 Bisi Bello for a touchdown pass. The Falcons decided to kick an onside kick as they did a Panthers receiver failed to control the ball and The Falcons received it back. Without missing a beat on the 1st play, Wyatt does what he is known for: rushing the ball to the end-zone for a touchdown halfway through the 4th quarter. The Panthers regained possession. They drained the clock until the last second securing them the victory with a final score of 49-44.

The Tompkins Falcons played an amazing game, but unfortunately for them, their football season comes to a close, whereas The Ridge Point Panthers will continue to round 2, where they will play #5 in the city and currently undefeated Lamar Texans.
