Allen led the Scots to the Class 5A Division I State Championship with a 16-7 victory over Temple. It was the first state title for the Scots since 2005 and the second career title for Allen.
He was one of 32 nominees for the award, one for each NFL franchise. Allen’s nomination came from the Dallas Cowboys.
Allen remains one of the winningest high school football coaches in Texas, compiling a 327-80-6 over his career.
Per an NFL release, Allen “will receive $25,000 from the NFL Foundation, $15,000 which will go toward his high school football program.” Allen will also be a guest of the NFL for Super Bowl LI in Houston and walk the red carpet at the NFL Honors on February 4, the night before the game.
