The Baltimore Ravens added another running threat on Friday after selecting Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins (La Grange)with the 55th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Dobbins joins a talented backfield that includes Mark Ingram. Baltimore finished 14-2 and had the best record in the AFC in 2019, but could not get past the divisional playoff round.
Dobbins was named a Doak Walker Award finalist after rushing for an Ohio State record 2,003 yards last season, including 174 against Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinals. The junior finished with two first place votes in the final Heisman Trophy voting and was named a 2019 Associated Press Second Team All-American.
He finishes his career at Ohio State with 4,459 yards and 38 touchdowns on 725 carries. Dobbins was a La Grange legacy and helped the school two playoff appearances following in the footsteps of his father who was a member of La Grange’s 1997 state semifinal team.
Previously in Round 2, the Houston Texans took TCU defensive lineman Ross Blacklock (Missouri City Elkins) 40th overall, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault (Desoto) with the next pick, the Cleveland Browns took LSU defensive back Grant Delpit with the 44th pick, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took Antoine Winfield (The Woodlands) 45th and the Philadelphia Eagles selected Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts (Channelview) 53rd.
