SAN ANTONIO – For the first time in school history, Johnson high school is home to a postseason bowl participant.
Karsten Battles, a senior long snapper, was officially announced Thursday morning as the selection committee made its way down to Johnson high school.
Battles is the No. 5 long snapper in the country according to Rubiolongsnapping.com. The senior has offers from Oregon, Army and Incarnate Word but has yet to make a decision as he’s still thinking of everything.

During the announcement he thanked his friends, family, teammates and coaches for the help to get where he is. Afterwards, he had something else to say about his coaches.
“My coaches are the best, they never sugar coat anything and they just let me know when I need to do something to be better,”Battles said. “I really respect and appreciate them for that because they’ve really developed me into the player that I’ve become.”
The 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl will be at the Alamodome on January 6. Kickoff is scheduled for noon and will be aired on NBC.
