Katy High School standout Fernando Garza wasted no time announcing his commitment after receiving an offer from Texas A&M’s new tight end coach James Coley. Garza announced his verbal commitment to the Aggies via Twitter:

Garza becomes the Aggie’s eighth commitment from the 2021 recruiting class. “There are really three reasons I knew A&M was the right place for me,” Garza said. “One would be because it’s so close to home and family is such a big part of my life… Another reason is how they use their tight ends; they use their tight ends the exact way I want to be used at the next level. And the third reason is that it’s been a dream school for me growing up.”
The 6-foot-5 junior has long been a fan of the Aggies. “It’s one of those things where your dream school offers you and it’s like, ‘Where do I sign?’”
Garza has garnered several Power 5 offers based on his junior tape with offers from Arizona, Colorado, Iowa State, Pitt, Virginia Tech and more. Garza now plans to recruit his current teammates for the Aggies. “I’m going to make sure all of us end up at A&M,” Garza joked.
As a dual-sport standout for Katy, Garza plans to play both football and baseball for Texas A&M as he continues his education.
