Katy Jumps to No. 6 in Super 25

Katy, previously No. 11, made the biggest jump of the top Super 25 high school football teams, reaching No. 6 after its fifth consecutive shutout, a 77-0 defeat of Westside (Houston) in a 6A-I regional playoff as running back Deondrick Glass ran for four touchdowns.

Because of a rash of upsets, five new teams were able to make their way into the rankings, led by No. 19 Steele (Cibolo, Texas) which improved to 11-0 after Xavier Martin threw two touchdown passes and ran for a touchdown in the first half of a 62-13 defeat of MacArthur (San Antonio) in a 6A-II bi-district playoff.

The other new teams: No. 21 Lone Peak (Highland, Utah), which knocked off then-No. 19 Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) 26-9 in a state 5A semifinal as Jackson McChesney caught two touchdown passes; No. 23 Aquinas Institute (Rochester, N.Y.), which rolled past Orchard Park 42-7 in a Class AA regional as Jake Zembiec threw four touchdown passes; No. 24 Loyola Academy (Wilmette, Ill.) which defeated Homewood-Flossmoor (Flossmoor) 34-28 in a 8A quarterfinal as quarterback Emmett Clifford threw two touchdown passes and ran for a touchdown; and No. 25 Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pa.), which defeated Archbishop Carroll (Radnor) 49-6 in a Philadelphia Catholic League AAA semifinal as Anthony Russo ran for a touchdown and passed for three.
