As one of the top defensive backs in the state for the 2021 recruiting class, Hunter Washington had nearly 30 schools vying for his attention. On Monday afternoon, the 5’11 junior cut that list short by announcing his top 10 schools with a video on twitter:

Washington’s graphic shows Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Texas, TCU and Virginia Tech as his top contenders. Washington Is ranked No. 15 nationally among 2021 cornerback prospects as well as No. 33 overall in the state of Texas per a 247sports Composite.
The four-star athlete helped lead Katy to a 12-1 record in the 2019 season before falling in the third round of playoffs to back-to-back state champions Galena Park North Shore. Though he’s being recruited as a defensive back, Washington has also shined in the wide receiver position for Katy. Washington earned second-team all-district both as a sophomore and junior.
At The Opening amp in March 2019, Washington registered impressive verified times after runnings 4.74 seconds in the 40-yard dash and 4.25 seconds in the short shuttle. Washington also posted a 32.6-inch vertical leap.

Before the recruiting calendar was suspended by the COVID-19 pandemic, the junior took three unofficial visits this semester. In February, he visited Ole Miss; in March he visited Oklahoma and Arkansas. Washington had plans to visit Ohio State later this month.
