Screen Shot 2016-11-03 at 2.05.49 PMOn the last day of the regular season the Katy Tigers roll over Mayde Creek heading into the playoffs. After their early season struggles the Tigers seemed to have righted the ship in district play, which most people expected to happen.

The Tigers took on the Rams in what looked more like a scrimmage for the Tigers. The Tigers came into the game 7-2 overall and 6-0 in district and well for the Rams they haven’t fared so well. The Rams came in 1-8 and have a big goose egg in district and that wouldn’t change today.

The Rams had a total of two plays in Tiger territory all game, and that was pretty much how the whole game went. Katy got on the board first with a safety thanks to Mayde Creek’s special teams snapping the ball over the punter’s head out of the back of the end zone. That was all the scoring the Tigers would need for the game.

Super sophomore Deondrick Glass rushed for a pedestrian, for him, 160 yards on 19 carries and four touchdowns, and like usual Glass and the rest of the starters didn’t finish the game. The Tigers were up comfortably 30-0 at the half, and only extended their lead in the second half. The Tigers scored another 28 points in the half winning 58-0 over the Rams.

The Rams season is over and finish at 1-9 overall. The Tigers will take on Fort Bend Travis in their first round playoff matchup next week on Friday at Rhodes Stadium. Travis enters winning three of their last four and finished second in District 20-6A behind Ridge Point. Katy has looked dominant since their early season struggles, the question is how much has Katy grown and gotten better since The Woodlands loss.

How about those Class 2A, Div II, District 5 Iraan Braves. Have now won 40 consecutive regular season games and the last District game this season against Irion County, five (5) starters did not even suit up! All the JV players got to play in this game and at the end of the first half, Iraan led 35 – 0. Check some articles in the Odessa American newspaper!
