In a highly anticipated TAPPS Division I state championship matchup, Argyle Liberty Christian delivered a commanding performance to claim a 45-24 victory over Dallas Parish Episcopal at Waco ISD Stadium on December 7, 2024. This game marked Liberty Christian’s second consecutive state title and fifth in program history.
The Warriors wasted no time setting the tone. Junior quarterback Quinn Murphy connected with Brady Janusek for a 50-yard touchdown on Liberty’s opening drive. Parish Episcopal responded quickly with a 23-yard scoring run by Noah Wheeler. Still, Liberty Christian answered right back with a 70-yard touchdown run from running back Chase Garnett, giving the Warriors a lead they never relinquished.

Murphy was unstoppable, finishing with 276 passing yards and four touchdowns, three of which went to Janusek. Garnett added 229 rushing yards and two scores on 23 carries, exploiting Parish’s defensive gaps throughout the game. Liberty’s defense also played a pivotal role, forcing two interceptions and holding Parish to just 7 points in the second half.
Parish Episcopal, led by senior quarterback and Purdue signee Anderson, managed 300 passing yards and two touchdowns but struggled to keep pace. Anderson’s late-game touchdown pass to Beckham Smith provided a spark, but the deficit proved insurmountable.
With the win, Liberty Christian capped an impressive 12-1 season under head coach Jason Witten. The Warriors will remember this season for its dominance and a historic repeat championship against a powerhouse opponent.
