After longtime Littlefield head coach Bryan Huseman announced his retirement in January, Littlefield ISD did not turn very far to find his replacement. Per Lone Star Varsity, defensive coordinator Brent Green was tabbed as the next head football coach and athletic director of the Wildcats. Green was approved by the school board on Friday afternoon.
Per the report, Green is just the fourth head football coach at Littlefield since 1971 and also the third time that the district has decided to promote from within for their head coaching job. Huseman was the head coach for 26 seasons and finished as the school’s winningest head coach.
Green told Lone Star Varsity’s Carlos Silva on replacing Huseman, “We’ve been here together, me and coach Huseman, for the last 22 years. The program is in place. It’s up to us now to carry on the tradition and keep this thing rolling.”
The Wildcats finished undefeated in District 1-3A play and won their first district title since 2012. They advanced to the regional semifinals in the Class 3A Division I playoffs before falling to Wall.
