It has become obvious that John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens are big fans of Texas talent after once again selecting another former high school star in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Ravens selected Texas Tech defensive lineman Broderick Washington (Longview) with the 170th overall pick in the draft on Saturday. Baltimore also drafted Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins (La Grange), Texas A&M defensive lineman Justin Madubuike (McKinney North) and Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay (Sachse) in this draft.
Other notable former notable Texas High School Football alums on the Ravens roster include defensive backs DeShon Elliott (Rockwall-Heath) and Earl Thomas (West Orange Stark) and kicker Justin Tucker (Austin Westlake). The Ravens finished 14-2 in the regular season, but could not get out of the AFC Divisional Playoffs in 2019.
Washington was one of the leaders on Tech’s defense and had 39 tackles, including 5.5 for loss in 2019.
He was rated as a three-star prospect by Scoutsinc, ESPN and 247Sports while playing for the Lobos.
Previously in Round 5, the Seattle Seahawks selected Syracuse’s Alton Robinson 148th overall and the Chicago Bears took Tulsa defensive lineman Travis Gipson 155th overall.
