On November 22, 2024, at the Georgetown ISD Athletic Complex in Georgetown, Texas, the Mason Punchers secured a decisive 56-28 victory over the Weimar Wildcats in the area round of the Class 2A Division I playoffs.
The game began with both teams exchanging touchdowns, resulting in a 14-14 tie at the end of the first quarter. However, Mason’s offense gained momentum in the second quarter, adding 21 points to lead 35-14 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Punchers continued their offensive dominance, outscoring the Wildcats 14-7, extending their lead to 49-21. Mason’s defense remained resilient, allowing only one touchdown in the final quarter, while the offense added another score, concluding the game at 56-28.
This victory advances Mason to the third round of the playoffs, marking their first appearance since 2020.
The Punchers will face Marlin in the regional semifinals, aiming to continue their pursuit of a state championship.
Weimar’s season concludes with an 8-5 record, reflecting a commendable effort throughout the year. Despite the loss, the Wildcats showcased determination and competitiveness, setting a strong foundation for the next season.
