One of the most recognizable names in West Texas coaching circles is calling it a career.
According to CBS7 in Midland/Odessa, Midland High head coach Craig Yenzer announced his retirement as the head football coach of the Bulldogs.
Per the report, the Midland Independent School District confirmed the announcement.
This past season, the Bulldogs finished 9-3 and a spot in the area round before being eliminated by Arlington Bowie. He also earned his 100th win at Midland with a win against Odessa Permian back in October.
Yenzer finishes his career at Midland High with a record of 103-70 in 15 seasons, including a trip to the state championship game in 2002. In the CBS7 report, Yenzer confirmed that he will stay on as the athletic coordinator until June when his contract expires and that a search for his replacement will begin immediately.
