Midland Legacy Defeats Abilene 48-17, Stays Undefeated
The Midland Legacy Rebels took on Abeline on Friday night at home, looking to stay undefeated on the season. Despite the Abilene Eagles putting up 453 yards of total offense, they failed to put points on the board in most of their drives, and it was the balanced offense of the Rebels that lit up the scoreboard.
The game looked like it would be close. Both teams came in 2-0, and the game started with both teams looking even. The Eagles found themselves down 21-17, and had been driving the ball down the field well, but costly turnovers changed the ride of the game, and the Revels put up 27 unanswered points to finish the game and win 48-17.
The Rebles showed they are an offensive powerhouse both through the air and on the ground. QB Marcos Davila threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns and added a 2-yard touchdown run late in the game.
Davila connected with WR Brex Stevens, who had two catches for 86 yards with one touchdown, Aiden Serrano, who went 6 for 72 receiving, finding the endzone once, and finally, Caden Ellis, who went 4 for 129 yards, finding himself in the endzone once.
In addition to the air attack, Midland Legacy rushed for 172 yards. The ground game was led by running back Damien Johnson, who scored two touchdowns off five touches for 58 yards. Johnson also returned an interception for a 43-yard score.
