Five Teams Who Impressed

Smithson Valley

Smithson Valley is surging right now, and they just gave Converse Judson the business, winning 44-14. What a statement game from the Rangers.

Dickinson

Don’t think we don’t see you, Gators. We see you. They dropped 63 points on Clear Falls, and didn’t allow a single point to come through their defense. Dickinson may have struggled a tad in the past and looked bad in their loss, but this is a very dangerous team.

El Paso Burges

Burges upset Chapin 16-13, a monumental victory for their program. The El Paso teams have been very competitive this year, don’t be surprised if we see one sneak into the later rounds of the playoffs.

Plano East

Anytime you can take Allen down to the wire, you did a very good job. There are no moral victories in football, but Plano East can take one heck of a bonus away from this loss.

Rockdale

The Tigers continue their late season surge with a victory over Franklin. They now hold wins over Franklin and Cameron Yoe, and if they can carry this momentum with them they’ll be in very good shape for the future.

Other Things That Should Be Mentioned

Waxahachie’s slide continues – The Indians lost to Lancaster, which isn’t a bad loss. The bad part comes from that being the third loss in a row that they’ve taken. They’ll need to right the ship against Lake Ridge in order to secure their playoff spot.

San Angelo Central makes a statement – I was on-site for the Bobcats’ win over Midland, and let me tell you, they looked incredibly impressive. Even when Cal Vincent struggled, they found a way to win by double digits over a very good Midland team.

Alief Taylor takes down Dawson – The cream is rising to the top all over the state, and it appears like Alief Taylor is part of that cream. They’ve been excellent all year, and they just beat a very good Dawson team.

Don’t be surprised if SAN Angelo Central takes it all the way to the House. They are the real deal and match up with anyone! So physical and man can they throw the ball to punish you with the ground attack later. Probably should be ranked higher!

That’s how I’m feeling too. They’ll have to make it out of an insanely tough region, but if they can do that, they’re looking really good.
