Muenster Hornets 2025 Season Preview

Austin Roof Inspection

Muenster Hornets

Head Coach: Brady Carney (16th season; 168-36 record)

Last Season: 14-2; 5-0 in district (Beat Shiner in 2A Division II State Title Game)

Muenster Key Players and Storylines

Muenster won its second state title in school history last year with a 36-29 victory over Shiner in the 2A Division II State Title Game.

With do-it-all quarterback Brady Carney (3,163 passing yards, 1,599 rushing yards, 66 total TDs) back this season, they’ll be a favorite in 2A Division II to repeat. Carney scored the game-winning touchdown with under a minute to go in that title game against Shiner.

However, defenses can’t just zero in on him. Powerful running backs Nolan Peel (979 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns) and Legend Bounds (568 rushing yards and 16 t0uchdowns) will combine with Carney to form a three-headed monster in Muenster’s ground game. Senior receiver Garrett Hess (1,140 receiving yards and 1o touchdowns) is Muenster’s go-to target in the passing game.

The Hornets also have a good foundation to lean on in the trenches with all-district linemen center Kyle Leidel and guard Rhett Walterscheid.

Defensively, Hess and Peel are two impact players for Muenster on the defensive line as well. Defensive end/linebacker Simon Johnson will be another key player coming off the edge.

Muenster will be a force to be reckoned with again this season. Almost of all of its key playmakers are back. With that experience, the Hornets will be determined to be back at AT&T Stadium again this December.
