Any thought of the NFL officially sponsoring the new spring football league was quickly put to bed by the league yesterday.
The NFL distributed a memo to member clubs today alerting them of the league but this is not connected to NFL in any way…

If NFL had a spring league it would be for young players under contract to get more reps, etc, or an in-season academy for non NFL players

Head of NFL Football Ops @TroyVincent23 says Spring League "is not ours." NFL will discuss its proposals at pro bowl, senior bowl, combine

So, the NFL won’t officially sponsor the spring league, at least not now anyways. The league will not feature anyone on current NFL rosters, but will rather feature veteran free agent players. Time will tell whether the NFL will officially buy the new league and use it as a developmental league.
If you thought that football was a year-round industry, it’s going to be even more so now. The developmental league will definitely create some compelling storylines, as it’ll play its games in April. It’ll be something for sure, as many men will be fighting for a chance to continue their NFL careers.
