NFL Draft- Day 2 (Rounds 2 And 3) Live Blog

5:47- Welcome back to another day of the NFL Draft. Tonight we get not only one, but TWO ROUNDS of fanbases pretending to have watched all of Colorado’s games when their team takes the Buffaloes starting tackle.

Tonight we’ll get a little interactive (because watching two more rounds of real life fantasy football drafting is about as entertaining as binge watching The Big Bang Theory” you can tweet me questions either at the company handle: @texashsfootball or my personal handle @tjmcaloon.

5:54- Hot take before the Green Bay Packers kick off this second round, they’re going to take FSU RB Dalvin Cook.

6:00- I want all of my draft day coverage to look like this.

I don’t care who has the best 40 time or who did the best cone drill or who can do the most bench presses. Tell me who has the best dance moves, and who cares about what they look like on their draft day.

6:05- Jake Butt to the Cowboys, that is who I want to see selected tonight.

6:06- Let’s not let Day 2 of the NFL Draft deter you from remembering that the Golden State Warriors blew a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavs.

6:15 – When ESPN posts that the pic is in they should IMMEDIATELY cut whoever is talking off and go straight to the podium. No one cares that you have to finish your thought, Mel, on whatever pass rusher or wideout that you’re or anyone is talking about.

6:18 – And we start Day 2 with the Packers taking Kevin King from Washington. Luckily for him he gets to play WITH Aaron Rodgers, not against him. Unlucky for him, he has to live in Green Bay in the winter.

6:20 – We have a trade!

6:21 – Instead of showing commercials for Papa Johns or State Farm the NFL should break in to announce this pick and to KEEP. THIS. MOVING.

6:29 – Jon Dorenbos will be announcing the Eagles Third Round pick. Maybe he can make the years of awful management decisions from Chip Kelly can vanish and a division contender can reappear.

6:33 – Hey remember last night when ESPN touted “no commercials! We are going to go a full hour of draft coverage!” Yeah they apparently needed to make up for all of that ad revenue tonight by going to break.

6:34 – So tonight is all about trades, apparently.

6:36 – Arizona Cardinals taking Buda Baker at Number 36 is the early clubhouse leader as best name for tonight. Jake Butt is still out on the course.

6:41 – Zay Jones going to the Buffalo Bills is going to be a great spot for the product of Stephen F Austin high school. Kid gets to start on DAY-ONE! And, he got to meet Thurman Thomas.

6:46 – Forest Lamp goes to the Artist Formerly know as the San Diego Chargers.

6:49 – The Jets have a Grand Canyon size hole at quarterback, and Nate Peterman, or Davis Webb, or Deshone Kizer on the board BUT INSTEAD take another secondary player taking S Marcus Maye.

6:55 – Good to see the Minnesota Vikings are moving away from a running back with a sketchy past to select a running back with a sketchy past in Dalvin Cook.

Good pick for the Minnesota Vikings, if they like a player that’s undersized, has a fumbling problem, and can’t really run between the tackles. But if they don’t care about that stuff, THEN WELL DONE.

7:02 – Vikings fans are only celebrating this pick because of A: they’ve heard of Dalvin Cook and B: there’s video of him breaking long runs for touchdowns.

7:04 – Eagles fans on Twitter pleading for their team to draft Joe Mixon is the reason why no matter what you do off the field, if you can score a touchdown or be an impact player, people will still cheer you. Fans root for laundry, not players.

7:09 – Philadelphia fans having to cheer for someone named Sidney makes my Penguins soul full of happiness. Their fans don’t take too kindly to my beloved Sydney Crosby.

7:13 – The pick is in on TV, Twitter has announced who it is. But yet, instead, we are stuck watching commercials on Courtyard Marriot. KEEP. THIS. MOVING.

7:16 – In the year 2020, this entire NFL Draft should be held over Twitter. On TV we’re stuck waiting on the Rams but over on social media we’re two picks ahead.

7:17 Hey remember when Jack Youngblood was celebrated for playing in a Super Bowl and it helped his Hall of Fame legacy. Yeah, I wonder why T.O. playing on a broken ankle in a Super Bowl hasn’t done anything for his?

7:28 – Quincy Wilson going 46 to the Colts while wearing a poop emoji t shirt is fitting. With the lack of secondary talent on that Colts roster he’s going to be looking like crap in most of their games.

7:31 – Dalvin Cook and Joe Mixon both selected before D’Onta Foreman and James Conner. Shows you that NFL front offices value product on the field over the quality of the person off of it.

7:38 – Mike Alstott announcing the Bucs pick of Justin Evans from Texas A&M without wearing the neck roll or giant shoulder pads is a giant swing and a miss.

The same goes with Clinton Portis announcing the Redskins draft pick in not one of his alter egos from his playing days is a GIANT miss.

7:42 – While we are on a commercial break, let’s check in on how the NHL Playoffs are going.

7:46 – Jim Brown is out to help with the Cleveland Browns’ second round selection. I can only imagine if in today’s world, like LeBron just decided to up and quit the NBA while on the set of a movie.

7:51 – Let’s start the tank-o-paloza for the 2018 draft!

7:56 – Hey did you guys know that the Dolphins went 16-0 in 1972? It’s not like anyone who played or coached on that team to remind any person they happen to come across.

8:01 –

8:03 – Willie Brown out here saying for everyone to go shopping for their Mom’s on Mother’s Day. And his mom is 103. ONE HUNDRED AND BLEEPING THREE!

8:04 – Hey Obi Melifonwu don’t buy any property while in Oakland this year. Rent young man, rent.

8:07 – Zach Cunningham from Vanderbilt going to the Houston Texans at Number 57 will help the team add more of a pass defender than rusher. This should do wonders for Clowney and the returning J.J. get those needed extra seconds to get to quarterbacks.

8:23 – Cowboys got their DE in Taco Charlton now they get their CB help with Cidobe Awuzie. Put them together and you get one hell of an expensive taco at some high end Dallas taco joint.

8:26 – The Steelers get JuJu Smith-Schuster to fill the role of Antonio Brown’s Facebook Live cameraman.

8:33 – The Dallas Cowboys have won this draft and there’s still five more rounds to go.

8:35 – Taylor Moton is 6’5 and 315 pounds. That person probably would be very hard to remove from a United Flight.

8:38 – So Twitter is three or four picks ahead of television. In case you aren’t aware here are the next picks.

8:42 – More Pro Wrestling in the NFL, less flags for unsportsmanlike conduct.

8:45 –

So Martavis Bryant isn’t mincing words on the Steelers taking a WR with their Second Round pick.

8:47 – Quick break from players that the general public hasn’t ever heard of being picked.

8:48 – Please, NFL, make the draft over Twitter next year. Twitter is like the SIM button to your pick on Madden.

8:53 – Steven Jackson making the announcement for the LA Rams without the giant dreadlocks continues the running theme tonight of players not living their former gimmicks from their playing days.

8:54 – Oh and Twitter is already moving onto the 2019 Draft as they have the next selections already up.

8:55 – Pats trade down with the Titans while Deion Branch sits alone in a green room playing with his iPhone while drinking a bottle of water.

9:05 – No more need for ESPN or the NFL Network as television has it on the 73rd pick the Bengals taking Jordan Willis, but Twitter has Chris Wormley going to the Ravens at 74 and Duke Riley going to the Falcons at 75.

9:16 – Daeshon Hall going to Carolina as the Panthers Third Round pick. They’re going to need all the help as the NFC South just added AP on top of Jameis Winston.

9:20 – So on the blog we like to check in at how the NHL Playoffs are doing. So let’s take a peak at what’s going on in the NBA.

9:23 – Oh man the Jets former player announcing their Third Round pick of ArDarius Stewart just belted out a J-E-T-E JETS JETS JETS.

9:25 – Brian Cushing will announce the Texans Third Round pick. And then will immediately headbut them between their nose to see if they’re tough enough.

9:27 – Don’t let J-E-T-E make you forget that the Cleveland Indians blew a 3-1 lead to the Chicago Cubs.

9:29 – The draft has not been good for the Big 12.

9:35 – New England picking someone from Youngstown St is such a New England Patriots move.

9:42 – Matthew Slater out here picking the latest selection for the Patriots and I could have sworn that he played for them last year. Or he may have been out of the league for the last five years. It’s the Pats.

9:44 – Davis Webb going to the New York Giants at Pick 87. I guess this means he will be the heir to the Eli throne in NYC.

9:49 – Let’s take a look at the city of Cleveland through the first three rounds of the draft.

9:54 – D’Onta Foreman staying in Texas by going to the Houston Texans at pick 89. I’d say that he looks happy.

9:57 – Dallas ending their third round with a Michigan product. But it’s the WRONG Michigan guy as they take Jourdan Lewis and not Jake Butt. I’m just going to go now sulk at the missed opportunity. However, there is always tomorrow. #TacoButt

10:08 – Arthur Moats yelling “here we go Steelers here we go” and I responded with such here in my living room in Austin, TX. I can’t help myself I’m like a trained dog.

10:09 – Skip Bayless really cuts through a prospects’ weakness.

10:15 –  Thinking out loud but if D’Onta has a great year, and enders himself to the Texans fanbase maybe they can move J.J. for missing pieces to get them over that New England/Pittsburgh hump.

10:22 – I wonder if the NFL could have just made up a name like saying “The Eagles select Terry Funk or Kevin Nash” and the fanbase would get whipped up into a frenzy because no one knows anything about these kids coming into the league.

10:27 – Trey Wingo saying how tough Jonnu Smith is after his girlfriend poured boiling hot water on him during an argument. That’s not ah tough, that’s ah should lead to more questions as to WHY your girlfriend was pouring boiling hot water on you.

10:41 – Steelers taking James Conner at 105 means that the team has a backup plan should Bell either A: get another drug suspension or B: not resign with the team when his contract is up.

10:45 –  That’s it for the Third Round. Get some sleep as the fourth begins tomorrow at 11am CST.
