Week 6 of the NFL season is almost done, with one more Monday night game between the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans still to be played. Before we get to that game, Here’s a look back at some of the former Texas high school football stars who had big days in the NFL on Sunday.
DE Myles Garrett (Arlington Martin, Cleveland Browns
The No. 1 overall pick returned to his home state on Sunday as the Browns faced the Houston Texans. It was a rough game for Cleveland as they fell to 0-6 but Garrett was a bright spot, finishing with five tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He’s played two whole games as a pro, but he’s emerged as one of the best defenders for the Browns.
RB Jay Ajayi (Frisco Liberty, Miami Dolphins)
The former Frisco Liberty star had a big game on Sunday, finishing with 26 carries for 130 yards en route to Miami’s 20-17 comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons
QB Case Keenum (Abilene Wylie, Minnesota Vikings)
Filling in for the injured Sam Bradford, Case Keenum put together another solid performance finishing 24-of-38 for 239 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Packers.
S Kenny Vacarro (Early, New Orleans Saints)
The Saints safety was all over the field on Sunday, finishing with four tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the win over the Detroit Lions.
DT A’Shawn Robinson (Fort Worth Arlington Heights, Detroit Lions)
The second-year defensive tackle was a menace on the other side of that Saints-Lions game on Sunday. Robinson finished with seven tackles, four tackles for loss and an interception for a touchdown.
QB Josh McCown (Jacksonville, New York Jets)
Josh McCown put up one of his best games of the season on Sunday, finishing with 354 yards and two touchdowns in their game on Sunday against the Patriots.
RB Adrian Peterson (Palestine, Arizona Cardinals)
Peterson looked like his old self in the desert on Sunday, finishing with 134 yards and two touchdowns in his Arizona Cardinals debut. Arizona defeated Tampa Bay 38-33.
WR Mike Evans (Galveston Ball, Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
The former Galveston Ball star helped Tampa Bay rally in the second half in Arizona on Sunday, finishing with 95 yards receiving and a touchdown.
LB Keenan Robinson (Plano East, New York Giants)
Robinson was a big part of the strong Giants defensive effort on Sunday night against Denver. The linebacker finished with six tackles and two pass deflections as the Giants won their first game.
