ARLINGTON, Texas —To play in a playoff football game over Thanksgiving is an honor for all the teams that get far enough. It’s even more of an honor to play at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

For the North Forney Falcons and Head Coach Randy Jackson, it’s expected.

Jackson led Mesquite Poteet to their first semi-finals appearance in 2010 before moving to Grapevine to turn the Mustangs into contenders. He is in the process of doing that now with North Forney.

North Forney has scored at least 40 points in every game this year including a 40-28 win over Jackson’s former team Mesquite Poteet. Quarterback Colby Suits has led North Forney this year throwing for 2,869 yards and 35 touchdowns and has run for 721 yards and 17 touchdowns. Running back Calvin Ribera has run for 1,524 yards and 20 touchdowns. This is a North Forney offense that knows how to move the ball.

If Lake Dallas can’t slow them down, North Forney could put up more than 50 points.

On the other side, Lake Dallas will rely heavily on quarterback Ryan Depperschmidt who has thrown 2,184 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for 15 more touchdowns. Brandon Engel will be downfield for him.

Engel, Depperschmidt’s favorite receiver, has accounted for 853 of the yardage through the air and 7 touchdowns. Lake Dallas is coming off a thrilling win against Frisco Reedy last week where they overcame a 21-13 halftime deficit to win 37-34. If the Lake Dallas defense can manage to slow down the North Forney offense, it should open the door for Lake Dallas to have a big game offensively.

This has all the makings of a big game set on a big stage in Arlington. The winner of this one will face the winner of Mansfield Legacy-Dallas Kimball.
