Martin also had an offer from Texas A&M-Commerce but North Texas was his first FBS offer. He becomes the fifth commit in the Class of 2018 for head coach Seth Litrell and the Mean Green.
The senior quarterback is the son of head coach Kirk Martin and the younger brother of Texas A&M offensive lineman Koda Martin.
Martin was selected as the District 23-5A Newcomer of the Year as a junior, putting up an impressive 3,443 yards and 46 touchdowns for the Mavericks. He should be in line for a big season in 2017 as he will have receivers Jalen Preston and Kam Scott among others to get the ball to. His play will be a big key for Manvel as they look to win a state championship after coming up short in the regional finals to Temple last season.
Martin also became the second Maverick to commit over the weekend. Linebacker Brian Johnson announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Friday.
