The senior quarterback becomes Commit No. 23 in the Midshipmen Class of 2018 and the sixth overall from the state of Texas. Navy added two commits on the same day from Cedar Hill cornerback Courtney Ogilvie and San Antonio Taft running back Justin Stevenson back on June 23 and has since picked up a commitment from defensive end Cal Long of Austin Regents.
Steen will be leaned on as one of the top returning playmakers on offense for head coach Blake Feldt after finishing with 1,103 yards passing and 13 touchdowns as well as 862 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground last season. Expectations will be high for the MOJO in 2017 and the new Navy commit should play a big role in that after finishing 6-4 but missing out on the playoffs.
Odessa Permian opens their season at home on September 1 against Austin Vandegrift.
