The latest Texas high school product to find a new home is Garrett Gilbert of Lake Travis and the Texas Longhorns.

At one point, Gilbert was a lock to be the next great Longhorn quarterback. As a freshman, he filled in admirably for Colt McCoy in Texas’s title bout with Alabama. Then, struggles in his later years saw his NFL stock drop dramatically, despite being the prototypical NFL quarterback. Gilbert was taken in the sixth round of the draft by the St. Louis Rams, and has bounced around the league ever since. Ultimately, despite all the struggles, Gilbert is making a living playing football, and that’s all anyone can really ask for in life.
