Plenty of Texas products ready to make XFL debuts this weekend

The XFL arrives on Saturday.

The revived league returns to television with a quartet of games this weekend, beginning with its latest inaugural contest Saturday, when the DC Defenders play the Seattle Dragons at 1 p.m. on ABC.

Just like nearly two decades ago, there is no telling if the XFL, but for at approximately the next three months, it exists, and lots of players — 560 to be exact — are getting opportunities, including plenty from Texas.

Among some of the most notable names with roots in the Lone Star State are:
Jerrod Heard, QB, Dallas Renegades (Denton Guyer)
Nate Askew, TE, New York Guardians (San Antonio Madison)
Lance Dunbar, RB, Dallas Renegades (Haltom City)
Justin Stockton, RB, New York Guardians (Cibolo Steele)
Cedric Reed, DE, Los Angeles Wildcats (Cleveland)
Trey Williams, RB, Seattle Dragons (Houston Dekaney)
Kent Perkins, OL, St. Louis BattleHawks (Lake Highlands)

And that’s just a few.

We don’t know how if the XFL will catch on or not, but check out a couple games while its on. You’re bound to see some familiar faces.
