Friday night, the Prosper Eagles faced Rockwall-Heath in a highly anticipated matchup. Both teams were eager to bounce back after losses in week 1, with each looking to make a strong statement and secure a win.
Prosper started strong as senior quarterback Braden Butler connected with junior wide receiver Lathon Latiolais and senior wide receiver Luke Watkins, giving the Eagles a quick 14-0 lead. The Eagles kept up the pressure, starting the second quarter with a blocked field goal and adding more touchdowns to head into halftime with a commanding 35-0 lead.
In the third quarter, Latiolais extended Prosper’s lead with an impressive 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, increasing their advantage to 42-0. Rockwall-Heath finally got on the scoreboard after forcing a safety on Prosper, giving them a bit of momentum to score 16 points.
Despite Rockwall-Heath’s efforts, Prosper was too dominant, cruising to a 49-18 victory. Butler’s precision passing and the Eagles’ solid defense ensured their success.
Next week, Prosper will host McKinney Boyd, who is coming off a 38-8 loss to Wylie East. Rockwall-Heath will aim for their first win as they host a winless Cedar Grove team.
