Quarterbacks
For the second week in a row Grant Gunnell (St. Pius X) was easily one of the top talents at the camp. He has excellent size and length and can make all the throws at the next level. I’m also really high on Grant Tisdale (Allen). He’s a dual threat guy with a massive arm. He could be the difference maker for Allen, a guy who might win them another State title.
Wide Receivers
There’s no real surprise here, Theo Wease Jr. (Allen) really stood out. He’s a big play wide receiver, and he can really take the top off a defense.
Offensive Linemen
I’m going to go ahead and call this one now: Darrell Simpson (Justin Northwest) will play on Sundays. He has excellent feet for a big man. Demarcus Marshall (Grand Prairie) and Elton Ndoma-Ogar (Allen) are other big men who impressed this weekend.
Defensive Linemen
In my opinion, the defensive lineman with the best camp was Jayden Jernigan (Allen). The Eagles have had many solid defensive linemen over the years, and Jernigan might be the next great one. He’s a high motor guy who knows how to find the football.
Linebackers
Dashaun White (North Richland Hills) is a definite next-level guy. He can play all three downs, and has the range to make plays from sideline to sideline. I really liked watching Alston Orji (Rockwall) as well. He’s a little raw and unrefined, but his upside is through the roof. Bumper Pool (Lucas-Lovejoy) also was very impressive.
Defensive Backs
The talent at the Dallas camp was deep in terms of defensive backs. Jalen Catalon (Mansfield Legacy), Brian Williams (Bishop Dunne), Caden Sterns (Cibolo Steele), Verone McKinley III (Lewisville Hebron), and Gemon Green (DeSoto) were all guys who made waves last weekend. The DB talent is very deep in this class.
