On the eve of the 2017 season, the Krum Bobcats will have a new head coach patrolling the sidelines. According to Steve Gamel of the Denton Record Chronicle, Krum head coach Gary Robinson has resigned from his position to be with his young son, who has struggled with health issues.
Robinson also had been dealing with health issues of his own and he told the Denton Record Chronicle that it was the right time to step away saying:
“I’ve been having some heart problems, and with all this happening, it has flared up again. With the added stress of football, this is just not a good time.”
Robinson went 36-24 in five seasons during the school’s varsity program and is the only head coach the school has ever known. Per Gamel, offensive coordinator Allen Oh will take over as the new head coach.
Krum opens their season on Friday at Pilot Point.
