Round Rock Cedar Ridge decided to stay in house for their next head coach. Defensive coordinator Sam Robinson was promoted as the next head coach of the Raiders on Monday. The move was first reported by Matt Stepp and announced in a release by Round Rock ISD.

Robinson replaces Shawn Bell, who coached just one season before leaving to take an assistant coaching position at Baylor, his alma mater.

Robinson previously served as the head coach at Slaton in 2015 before coming on staff at Cedar Ridge in 2016. Per the release, Robinson has also coached at Round Rock Stony Point among other stops.

The Raiders finished the regular season undefeated en route to a 13-6A District title. They advanced to the area round of the Class 6A Division II playoffs before losing to Klein Collins in overtime.
