FORT WORTH- As the regular season enters the second half of the season, the playoff picture is starting to take shape in District 6-5A. Behind Aledo, the district has some intrigue as the unbeaten Saginaw Boswell Pioneers (5-0) travels to face Fort Worth Brewer (4-1) on Friday night at Brewer Bear Stadium.
The undefeated Pioneers are coming off a close 15-14 win over Eaton last week thanks to a last second blocked field goal gave Boswell the win at home. Quarterback Brayden Thomas got both touchdowns for Boswell, one on a 38 yard pass to Brandon Chatman, and the other on an 8 yard run. Running back Jay Garcia also carried the ball 21 times for 70 yards. Those two will be the go-to playmakers on offense for Boswell.
Fort Worth Brewer has gotten off to a strong start this season with strong wins over Burleson Centennial and a key district win last week against Justin Northwest. The Bears threw the ball effectively to pull off a 37-14 win over the Texans as junior quarterback Carson Ingram completed 14-of- 22 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown. Nine of those passes were completed to Jahrad Taylor for 106 yards. Brewer has an opportunity to continue one of the best starts they’ve had in a long time and this game is key for them if they want to remain in the playoff hunt.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. CST from Brewer Bear Stadium.
