San Angelo Central Defeats Belton 33-8 in Dominating Win

Eric Watson - CBS Insurance LLP - A Gallagher Company

The San Angelo Central Bobcats cruised to a 33-8 victory over the Belton Tigers in a non-district football matchup at San Angelo Stadium. After two previous losses, Central entered the game with confidence, having defeated Abilene Cooper the week before.

The Bobcats began strong, with quarterback Christian English connecting on a 4-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Edwards early in the first quarter. English later added a rushing touchdown and threw for two additional scores to Edwards, finishing with 168 passing yards. San Angelo’s defense was impressive, forcing two turnovers and keeping Belton off the scoreboard for most of the game.

Belton’s offense finally got on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run by Will Shepard, but it was too late to affect the outcome. San Angelo Central recorded 20 first downs and rushed for 165 yards, while Belton managed only 39 rushing yards.
