Solomon Thomas is officially off the board after being taken third overall by the San Francisco 49ers.
Thomas was one of the fastest rising defensive line prospects in the draft class and was a difficult assignment to block in the Pac 12 for David Shaw and the Stanford Cardinal. He finished his junior season 62 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He also grabbed headlines across the country after his performance in his final college game at the Sun Bowl in El Paso.
Thomas was a five-star prospect coming out of Coppell in the Metroplex and became a star player at Stanford in three seasons. Some scouts have projected him as a “tweener” but his strength as an impressive run stopper and playmaker should make him a success at the next level.
Aside from Myles Garrett, Thomas becomes the second Texan taken in the Top 3 in the 2017 NFL Draft.
