The legend of the crafty signal caller from Denton continues to get better.
Spencer Sanders, a quarterback at Denton Ryan High School, has gone through a lot. He’s had two major injuries — one as a freshman and one last year — that many may not have come back from.
Instead, he came back better.
The current chapter of the Sanders story is in the high school playoffs and the road to it — where he led the Raiders to an 11-0 record. His 2,748 passing yards, 34 touchdowns and four interceptions paired with 889 rushing yards are fantastic.
Especially considering his ACL tore last December.
Although he still has much to do in high school — there are the area and quarterfinal rounds of the UIL 5A playoffs looming in the distance — the Oklahoma State commit has one more thing to add before college.
Announced through his Twitter, he has been invited to the International Bowl, a game is held Jan. 19 at AT&T Stadium. The USA team will face off against the Canadian National Team and it will be aired on ESPN3.
Denton Ryan Head Coach Dave Henigan told us how proud he is of him for the work ethic he’s shown to get to this point.
“To see him come and have the season that he’s having, to have the opportunity to do some things like this, it’s indicative of the work ethic the kid has and the talent level he has and the drive, the competitiveness so I’m really happy for him,” Henigan said.
Honored and blessed to receive this invitation 🙏🏼🙏🏼 pic.twitter.com/XhtlagJtPQ
