If you’re a recruiter from a major college football program, you probably know where to spend the bulk of your time — Florida, Texas and California, to name a few states — but SB Nation’s research into where every prize recruit from 2013-17 hails from may offer some insight into where to find the next diamond in the rough.
Indeed, those three aforementioned states produced the most gems, accounting for 40 percent of the 1,642 four- and five-star recruits from 2013-17, according to SB Nation’s analysis of 247Sports Composite rankings. Florida (230), Texas (225) and California (200) were the only states to produce more than 200 top-ranked recruits in that five-year span, and only Georgia (141) generated more than 100 in the same window.
