The Spring Westfield Mustangs came into their game with the Spring Lions 2-0 and having not lost to the Lions in 8 years. Up 3 with a few seconds to go, it looked like the Mustangs were on their way to 3-0, but with one last “Hail Mary” effort from the Lions, that changed.
Down to their last play, Spring had their Quarterback Bishop Davenport throw the ball as far as he could to try to get the ball in the endzone. The ball just got there, coming up just short of the goal line, it was caught and the Lions receiver found his way into the endzone for the go-ahead score.
Final Score: Spring Lions 27 – Spring Westfield Mustangs 24
The Westfield Mustangs will look to rebound from a tough loss when they play at Aldine Nimitz next week. The Aldine Nimitz Cougars are 1-1 and coming off a tough 14-59 loss to Spring DeKaney. The Spring Lions will look to continue the momentum from this win and improve to 4-0 when they host Aldine Eisenhower next week. It will be a battle of undefeated teams as the Aldine Eisenhower Eagles are 2-0 this year.
