Here’s something exciting for Texas high school football players looking to keep their dreams alive after graduation. The North Louisiana Football Alliance (NLFA) just kicked off its new season—and it might be exactly what some Texas athletes have been waiting for.
Based in Bossier City, Louisiana, the NLFA is a nine-man developmental and showcase league that gives young men, especially recent grads and overlooked players, a shot to keep playing and growing. It’s geared toward athletes aged 18–24 and includes teams in Louisiana and East Texas, with a growing footprint in places like Shreveport and Longview.
But this league isn’t just about football. It’s also about setting players up for life. According to NLFA founder Holland Witherspoon, “Every roster spot in the NLFA represents a second chance and a next step.” Players get game film, verified stats, and exposure to scouts—but also life skills training, job and military recruitment support, and a tight-knit community of mentors.
The league runs from March through May and uses regional hubs to cut down on travel and boost fan support. It’s structured, affordable, and built to help players stay disciplined, stay motivated, and find their next path—whether that’s more football, a trade, or service.
For many former Texas high school football players who didn’t land a college offer or simply need a different path, the NLFA could be the opportunity they didn’t know they needed.
