The NFL season kicks off with a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl as the Denver Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers. TexasHSFootball decided to look at which players from both rosters spent their high school days in the Lone Star State and how their careers went. Here is who we found for the Carolina Panthers.

Colin Jones – Bridgeport
Jones was an exceptional athlete during his time at Bridgeport which he graduated from in 2006. His junior and senior year he was named the Offensive MVP of the team which is not bad at all for someone who was a safety first. He was an All-State honorable mention his junior year and was a First-Team All-State selection as a senior. He was awarded the county Most Valuable Player as his overall athletic prowess helped him amass 1800 rushing yards and 1100 receiving yards to go along with his 37 total touchdowns in his final year at Bridgeport before heading off to play for TCU.

Fozzy Whittaker – Pearland
The former Pearland Oiler running back left his school with quite an impressive resume. Before playing for the Texas Longhorns, his time at Pearland he began by earning the Brazoria County Newcomer of the Year in his sophomore year and was named a First-Team All-District 24-5A selection. His junior year saw him collect the 24-5A Offensive Player of the Year. In his final season he garnered a First-Team 5A All-State honor from the Texas Sports Writers Association as well as Honorable Mention 5A All-State from the Associated Press. He was also named the district 24-5A MVP, was dubbed the Houston Chronicle MVP, Houston Touchdown Club Offensive Player of the Year and Brazoria County MVP. When Whittaker finished his career at Pearland, he was the sixth all-time leading rusher in Texas 5A history and rushed for more than 1,300 yards each year from his sophomore to senior year.

Daryl Williams – Lake Dallas
Williams was labeled a four-star recruit by Scout.com and Rivals.com in his high school career. ESPN had him as a three-star recruit and was named as an All-Region player by PrepStar. In 2009 he recorded 38 pancakes and graded out at 93 percent without allowing a sack. He was frequently seen on list as one of the top offensive tackle recruits in high school, and went on to play for the Oklahoma Sooners

Teddy Williams – Tyler John Tyler
Teddy Williams was the only player on this list not to play college football, but he was a sprinter at UTSA. Prior to his collegiate days he was an exceptional wide receiver for Tyler John Tyler. An ankle injury during his senior year impacted his scholarship offers and ability to play. Before the injury he was a three-time All-District selection and received Second-Team All-State honors as a junior.
