We are ranking the Top 10 All-Time Best NFL Offensive Players from Texas high school football. This list is based solely on each player’s NFL career — including MVPs, total stats, All-Pro teams, Super Bowl wins, and Pro Bowl selections.
Mike Evans lands at #10, and it was one of our toughest choices yet. We debated between Evans and Cowboys legend Don Meredith, but ultimately went with Evans. His career production, Super Bowl championship, and five Pro Bowl selections tipped the scales. Evans is one of only two active players to crack our Top 10.
Early Life and High School Career
Michael Lynn Evans Jr. was born on August 21, 1993, in Galveston, Texas. He played football, basketball, and track at Ball High School. Surprisingly, Evans only played one season of high school football, but even that short time was enough for Texas A&M to recognize his incredible potential.
His senior year numbers — 25 receptions for 648 yards and seven touchdowns — barely hinted at the greatness ahead.
College Career at Texas A&M
At Texas A&M, Evans exploded onto the scene alongside Johnny Manziel. After redshirting in 2011, he posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, finishing his college career with 151 receptions, 2,499 yards, and 17 touchdowns.
In 2013, he was a consensus All-American and a first-team All-SEC selection. His monster performances against Alabama (279 yards) and Auburn (287 yards, 4 TDs) remain legendary in Aggieland.
Evans declared early for the NFL Draft after his sophomore year and was selected 7th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014.
