Best football player in Texas

We have interviewed several Texas High School football players and asked them what the highlight was of their 2020-21 high school football season. Here are a few of their replies.

Cade Klubnik, Westlake High School

“Without a doubt the highlight of the season was winning it all with my brothers. we had been through so much together and never once changed our minds and quit. We stayed focused on our goal and sacrificed so much.”

Diego Escovar, Homer Hanna High School

“The highlight of my 2020 season would definitely have to be winning the district championship when we were predicted to finish last in our district.”

Tyrone McDuffie III, El Paso Parkland High School

“Winning a District and Bi- District Championship with my teammates and coaches also putting it on for my family and city.”

Brad Jackson, Cypress Creek

“My biggest highlight of this last season had to be leading my team to the playoffs as a freshman and it was a really cool experience for me and my team.”

Leonard Chapman (Beastltrain), Dallas Roosevelt High School

“Being a team Captain, my highlight was getting to play any game we could in Dallas ISD. As a leader, I was interviewed on the local Fox News channel to encourage the DISD leaders to make a decision to let us play for the season. This was while other schools had already started to play.   We did get to play. The most memorable game for me is when we played against Dallas Pinkston after coming back from not practicing because of Covid for about 2 1/2 weeks together. For most of the game, our defense read the opponent and had lots of wins TOGETHER.  We were reading Offense, and getting to the ball quick. We were all so excited about being on the field together. “

Alessandro Cairati, The Brook Hill School

“The highlight of my 2020 season was definitely that I had the opportunity to play with a brand new team at a brand new    school. I got to know a lot of amazing coaches and teammates.”

Xavier Wishert, Jim Ned High School

“The highlight of my season had to be winning the State game vs. Halletsville.”

Bo Edmundson, Lake Travis High School

“The highlight of my season this year was being named 6A Built Ford Tough Player of the Week.”

Logan Tanner, St. Pius X

“The highlight of my 2020 season was the summer workouts. I really enjoyed coming early in the morning everyday and working together with my family to get better and build this program up. It payed off in the season especially after last year when we went 2-8. To finish with a winning record this year really spoke volumes of the work we put in the summer workouts and the off-season.”

DJ Johnson, Lake Travis

“Being able to play football with a pandemic going on.”
