After the departure of Kevin Patrick to NC State, Texas Tech has had a hole in their coaching staff, at a place that many would argue has been the weakest part of a defense that’s been very bad over recent years – the defensive line. On Thursday, Texas Tech announced that Terrance Jamison would be Patrick’s replacement.

Jamison has served on the defensive staffs of Wisconsin and Cal, and comes to Texas Tech following three years of experience as the defensive line coach of FAU. While at Wisconsin, he worked with two-time Pro Bowler and Houston fan favorite JJ Watt. In 2015, FAU was first in C-USA in sacks with 35, which was also good enough to be 13th nationally.
He will join a Texas Tech defense that ranked dead last in total defense in 2016, according to NCAA statistics.
