Like it was a year ago, District 3-6A should provided to be an interesting race. Keller Central, Fossil Ridge and Timber Creek were all in the mix a year ago to win the district title but it was the westernmost team in the district in Abilene that ended up coming away with the title.
The Eagles lose a ton on both sides of the ball including the MVPs of the district in running back Abram Smith, quarterback Peyton Killam, and defensive back Qua’shawn Washington. That said, Abilene always seems to be right there and until someone knocks them out, I’m going to stick with Abilene to take the title again.
Prediction: Abilene High
Cody Daniel
I think this district is once again going to be headlined by Abilene High after going 11-2 in 2016. Abilene does lose a fair amount of talent, especially in the trenches and star running back Abram Smith, but I think they’ll return enough to still have a slight edge over the rest of the district.
That said, Keller Fossil Ridge is stacked on defense and Keller Timber Creek should have a say in the district title, as well. But I think Abilene once again reigns at the end of the season.
Prediction: Abilene High

(Disclosure: Hunter’s younger brother plays for Abilene High)
3-6A was essentially dominated by Abilene last year, but that’s not going to be the case this year at all. I’m going to go against the grain here and pick Keller Fossil Ridge.
The Panthers return four first-team all district defenders and a slew of offensive talent as well. They took losses to Abilene and Keller Central in district play last year, but they’ll have both of those games at home next year, with an experienced group of players. 3-6A is going to be much better than predicted next year, and I like Fossil Ridge to come out on top of the revamped, difficult district.
Prediction: Keller Fossil Ridge
