We have a really exciting matchup in 5A this week with two undefeated teams going at it.
It’s no surprise that Cedar Park is undefeated, they’ve built a small dynasty in recent years. Their devastating defense is always to be reckoned with, and their steady offense is putting up an average of 35.1 points per game. Cedar Park is a known commodity, they’ll be consistently good for years to come.
The shocker in this matchup is the undefeated Pflugerville Connally Cougars. They had little preseason hype, but have still managed to go 7-0 up until this point, beating the likes of Hutto and Leander Rouse along the way. The Cougars are very similar to Cedar Park, their offense averages 36.6 points per game, and while their defense is less devastating than Cedar Park’s, it’s still potent.
Georgetown might have shown Connally how to injure the Timberwolves. They’ve been one of the closest to beating Cedar Park this year, and frankly, Connally will need all the help they can get. This will be a matchup of huge proportions, and will likely decide the district champion in 19-5A.
We’re really looking forward to this one, and we love a good underdog story. We’ll see you there, and various other places around the state!
