The three-star outside linebacker chose the Broncos over offers from Air Force, Houston, Indiana, SMU, and Tulsa among others. Per John Patrick of 93.1 “The Ticket” (KTIK-FM) in Boise, Hawkins plans to graduate early from high school and head to campus in January.
2016 served as a breakout year for the Eagles standout, finishing with 132 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, six pass breakups and two forced fumbles. His play earned him a first team all-district selection.
Hawkins becomes the third commit in Boise State’s recruiting class of 2018 and the first from Texas as well. With his college decision made, Hawkins will focus on getting the Eagles further into the postseason after finishing 8-3 in 2016.
