The 2023 Texas High Football regular season is officially over. Playoffs are around the corner before they start I want to break down the top 10 high school teams in the Houston area. In this two-part article, I will be breaking down rank 6th-10th.
10. Tomball Memorial Wildcats (9-1)
The Tomball Memorial Wildcats this season have been completely dominating. Tomball Memorial averaged about 30 points a game and their highest score was when they beat The Klein Cain Hurricanes by 79-33. Tomball Memorial’s quarterback #15 Aiden Martin has been a big reason for their latest success throwing 23 touchdown passes and rushing in four touchdowns himself. Round 1 playoffs The Tomball Memorial Wildcats will play against The Cypress Springs Panthers (8-2).
9. Columbus Cardinals (10-0)
The Columbus Cardinals have consistently been in the top 10 the entire season. I have never seen a small 3A football program receive this recognition, especially being ranked higher than veterans Houston powerhouses like; The Katy Tigers or The Woodlands Highlanders. Quarterback #8 Adam Schobel has a cannon for an arm, great awareness, and accuracy. In the midseason, Adam threw for 1,200 passing yards and 19 touchdown passes. Round 1 playoffs The Columbus Cardinals will play against The Rockdale Tigers (3-7).
8. Willis Wildkats (10-0)
The Willis Wildkats is one of my favorite teams this season. Willis has the best quarterback in the nation in #2 DJ Lagway. DJ is an excellent passer whether he has time or is on the move and his speed is equivalent to a wide receiver, but runs like a running back. DJ currently has 54 overall touchdowns this season 45 passing and 9 rushing. Round 1 playoffs The Willis Wildkats will play against The Nimitz Cougars (8-2).
7. C.E King Panthers (7-3)
The C.E. King Panthers have always been a solid team in the Houston area and this season is no different. C.E. King has great athletes like; quarterback #1 Darius Clark-James he is a great passer currently having over 2,000 passing yards in 10 games and 22 overall touchdowns with 18 touchdown passes and 4 rushing touchdowns. Darius’ main target is wide receiver #0 Vincent Jones he is a quick and reliable receiver able to get off any defensive coverage. Vincent’s stats this season are 35 receptions, 747 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. Round 1 playoffs The C.E King Panthers will play against The Channelview Falcons (5-5).
6. Klein Collins Tigers (9-1)
The Klein Collins Tigers are a solid team that has ranked up expeditiously since their only loss this season against The Summer Creek Bulldogs. They have won every other game this season thanks to the efforts of their quarterback #2 Tucker Parks. Tucker is very mobile scrambling out of any jam to make a beautiful pass on a dime. Tucker is one of the best quarterbacks in the city maybe even the state. Round 1 playoffs The Klein Collins Tigers will play against The Cypress Ranch Mustangs (6-4).
