During a committee meeting Tuesday afternoon prior to Wednesday’s Legislative Council meeting, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) met to discuss various agenda items regarding high school sports.
Although no decision has officially been made regarding the 2020-2021 sporting seasons, there have been many questions from coaches, athletes, parents, fans, media members and more regarding whether or not there will be sports; especially questions pertaining to the fast approaching football season.
“Within reason, we want to get back to normal.” Dr. Greg Poole said during the live streamed zoom committee meeting. During the meeting, Charles Breithaupt also mentioned the hopes of starting competition on time with full capacity of fans in attendance.
The UIL is set to meet Wednesday to discuss new business agenda meetings which seem to include a variety of COVID-19 related proposals along with the proposal of changing the rules on live streaming high school football games. The meeting is schedule for 11 a.m.
