UIL NEWS: December 1st UIL Press Releases

The UIL released the two following press releases, the first being a summary of hearings from today, and the second an announcement of upcoming hearings.

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rules violations.

A student-athlete from Broaddus High School was granted an appeal for varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that this student did not change schools for athletic purposes.

A student-athlete from El Paso Harmony Science Academy was denied an appeal for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committee.

Campbell High School head football coach Jason Crow and Granbury Acton Middle School football coach Shawn Pope were denied appeals of an ejection from a contest and were both issued the automatic penalty of a public reprimand, one-year probation, and additional training.

 

 

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, Texas — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League will convene at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2nd via teleconference to determine the eligibility of student-athletes. It will be available Live on the UIL State Executive Committee Page. Please note that there is no physical location for this meeting in order to ensure safe social distancing, and it is only accessible via the live stream.

9:00 a.m. AA. Austin Akins High School: Appeal of District 26-6A Executive Committee Decision Regarding Eligibility of a Student-Athlete, Section 443, Changing Schools for Athletic Purposes.
9:45 a.m. BB. Austin Westlake High School: Appeal of District 26-6A Executive Committee Decision Regarding Eligibility of a Student-Athlete, Section 443, Changing Schools for Athletic Purposes.
10:30 a.m. CC. San Antonio Wagner High School: Appeal of District 27-6A Executive Committee Decision Regarding Eligibility of a Student-Athlete, Section 443, Changing Schools for Athletic Purposes.
11:15 a.m. DD. San Antonio Wagner High School: Appeal of District 27-6A Executive Committee Decision Regarding Eligibility of a Student-Athlete, Section 443, Changing Schools for Athletic Purposes.

The State Executive Committee meeting is an open meeting, and all interested parties are welcome to follow online.
